Dungarvan and West Waterford Sinn Fein

The Joe McDonnell/Denis Crotty Cumann and The McElwee/Ó Reagin Cumann in the Gaeltacht nominated Brendan Mansfield for the 2009 Local Elections as a candiate for Dungarvan Town Council and Waterford County Council. Brendan already holds both these seats from the 2004 Local Elections.

Brendan Mansfield lives in The Burgery, Abbeyside, Dungarvan. When elected in 2004 he was one of the youngest if not the youngest Councillor ever elected to Waterford County Council and Dungarvan Town Council. Now aged 28 he has a strong reputation for speaking his mind and fighting hard for his constituents. Brendan comes from a Republican background. The Mansfield name is still very well regarded in Waterford for the part the they played in the fight for Liberation in the 1920's.Brendan is employed in GlaxoSmithKline in Dungarvan where he as worked for the past ten years, he is currently employed as a Team Leader in the Manufacturing area of the Plant. From a strong Trade Union heritage Brendan was Senior Shop Steward at the Plant for five years and was also Chairperson of the local branch of the ATGWU/UNITE Trade Union.As sports enthusiast Brendan is a member of the Abbeyside/Ballinacourty GAA Club and represented the club at all grades, Brendan is also a member of the West Waterford Athletic Club. Brendan is engaged to Ms.Sinead Crotty from Dungarvan, whom also comes from a strong Republican Family.
